Today’s review is about the duo Manila
by NYX: soft matte lip cream in neon coral and single eyeshadow in shimmer
taupe shade.

Lipstick Manila is in extremely neon
shade: bright, vivid orange coral with hot pink undertone. This is definitely
not an universal shade that would suit many women – it doesn’t suit me as well
:D On me looks simply terrifying and that’s why I gave it to my mum. Mum has
medium skin tone with yellow undertone, brown hair and light brown eyes and
Manila suit her really well.
This lipstick’s characteristics aren’t
impressing: it requires 2 coats for full opacity even on lighter lips, plus you
have to be very careful when applying it due to uneven application. It
emphasizes every imperfection on the lips and you need to apply lip balm &
exfoliate well before applying it. Longevity is OK but you need to reapply it
after eating or drinking because it disappears on the inside of the mouth. The
shade is perfect for summer and really playful and if this shade looked good on
me I would wear it only in the summer – I can’t imagine wearing it in the cold
weather & snow.
From the swatches on the internet I can
conclude that Manila looks good on swarthy women (dark eyes & hair, medium to
deep skintone). My advice is to test before purchasing it, even though if you
are swarthy type – this shade is extremely specific and capricious.
Eyeshadow in the shade Manila is on the
opposite site: neutral taupe (grey-brown) with purple undertone and shimmer
finish. It’s great pick for everyday makeup: I like applying it soft all over
the mobile lid, slightly smoke it up with matte taupe eyeshadow and finish the
look with grey eyeliner in the waterline + mascara – the result is nice office
makeup. I combine this eyeshadow with shimmery pink blush with cold undertone (review) and semi clear
lip gloss.
Quality of the eyeshadow is great: soft,
buttery consistency, easy application & blending, good longevity. The shade
reminds me a lot of another taupe eyeshadow I own – KIKO Infinity Eyeshadow
#246 (I’ve wrote about them in the post about my everyday makeup essentials for
winter 2016 here)
KIKO Infinity Eyeshadow #246 are in taupe shade with much visible purple
undertone and more shimmery finish compared to Manila, which is has less
shimmery finish and are more on the taupe than on the purple side.
The duo Manila I won’t wear together –
actually I won’t wear the lipstick at all :D because it doesn’t look good on
me. The eyeshadow Manila I wear every now and then for quick office makeup.
Taupe eyeshadow are great everyday pick
and suit basically every woman.
